It seems the latest storm track model has Irene shifting more to the west bringing the eye of the hurricane directly impacting Carteret county. In as much as I hate to miss a day of school this early in the year, I would like to see them at least have early release tomorrow as tropical storm force winds are scheduled to begin tomorrow afternoon making any remaining storm preparation more difficult.
Irene stay away!
If you are interested in tracking the hurricane, then a great website is www.crownweather.com. It updates the latest information much quicker than anything on the television and they offer a variety of models (three of which show the hurricane directly impacting the NC coast). I can’t imagine beginning the school year with a major hurricane, but like they say, “it is what it is…”
